I get asked questions all the time about Steven...such as what I know about him, how come I adore him so much, how I got to meeting him, stuff like that. (Mostly my friends and family ask, of course.) So I thought I'd clear up a few things and answer what I can, so y'all will understand the methods behind my madness (if that's what you want to call it). Now honestly, I don't know tons, but I will share those things that I am able to. Of course there are limits to the types of questions I'll answer (I'm not going to post any addresses or other deeply personal items), but if you want to know something, just ask away! Note: Remember, I'm not his Talent Agent, so if you are looking to book him for some sort of acting job, you'll have to get a hold of his Agency (that info can be found on the 'Net, but if you want, you can E-mail me and I'll send the info on to you privately). |
FYI: The Questions are in bold. My Answers are (obviously) in italics. Oh, and my little asides are in lighter text...
*THIS ISN'T DONE YET, BUT YOU CAN READ WHAT'S HERE NOW IF YOU WISH.*
How and when did you discover Steven? It was about 1992, I saw him for the first time (that I knew of) on an episode of Mathnet, 'The Case of the Mystery Weekend'. I thought he was pretty cute and loved the part he played. :@ ) It also turns out I had seen him a couple years earlier on another episode of Mathnet, 'The Case of the Masked Avenger' (but I didn't realize it until long after I'd seen him in the latter ep). It all pretty much took off from there, which yes, really is about 10+ years.
What stuff has Steven done, acting wise? Sadly, Stevie doesn't get nearly enough exposure in his acting career. He's done a lot of "bit parts" (I can relate to that myself) and worked in several films, TV shows and a lot of theatre. A few notable examples of what he's done are: Law and Order (all three of the subshows and the L&O movie 'Exiled'), Homicide: Life on the Street, The District, 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest' (on Broadway), and 'Ah, Wilderness!' (on Broadway). You can also look at his resume and see the rest of his credits. What is he doing right now? Well, the most current info I have is always posted on the main page, but there might be things I miss. If you find him in anything I don't have listed, be sure and let me know!
If he's just a "bit actor", why do you care so much about him? Well, just because he isn't the biggest star doesn't mean he isn't the brightest. :@ ) I too was once a "bit actress" (always striving to do bigger roles, but never have), so I know what that's like. I admire him for being able to do that so well. 'Sides, bit parts add up to bigger roles in time, and he's had some of those, and sometimes we "bits" also have Understudy roles in plays, which is no small task either! (You have to be ready for anything, and in his case, he recently got to use his Understudy skills and filled-in for a rather significant role in the Broadway show 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest'.) And it's more than just his acting anyway, he's a sweet guy too! (But of course it's the acting that lead me to him...*G*)
Are you like married to him or something? Don't I wish? But nope, I'm not. (At least not at this point in time...but don't get me wrong there.) That isn't to say I wouldn't marry him (or someone a lot like him if he's unavailable) if the chance came up. And no I didn't ask him if he was already...if he were to offer that info, that would be one thing, but I'm not going to pry into his life like that myself! But yes, I do adore him very much and would do (almost) anything for him if he asked. :@ ) I'll admit: he is definitely the ideal type of man for me and the fact he does something I love makes him all the more attractive.
Don't you think you're just a little obsessed with him? I can see why people might think that, but I don't think so. I'm devoted to his career and all, and I try to keep up with him, but I would never try to stalk him or go after him unwillingly. That's very wrong and nobody should do that (just look at the news stories of people who do, eeeek). He's never said he thinks of me as some obsessed maniac, and I don't think he would have even agreed to meet me if he felt that way. Actors deserve their right to privacy and I definitely respect that. If Steven has something personal to share, he'll tell me himself...I may ask people who have worked with him what he was like and what they might know about him, but if nobody has anything to offer, I drop it. Trying to pry too deeply would just lead to his detesting me (and who wouldn't? I'd hate myself if I ever did anything so low), so no worries, that will never happen! So maybe in the past I've gone a little "overboard", but it's all in fun, and that's changed a lot now that I know him a little better, as a human. I guess you could say I've "grown up", or at least taken on a more meaningful admiration over time.
How did you find out so much about him? Well, the Internet has helped a lot. I've E-mailed people he's worked with, I've gotten random E-mails from people, I've seen his resume, and well, I've met him. Before I had the 'Net to "research" with (prior to 1996), I had no way at all to learn more, so there were several "idle" years before I really found anything outside of what I'd seen him in. I've just perservered and in time the information has come to me. It's really not that much info at all, but it's definitely more than most people know. So thank God (and Al Gore, and whoever else claims they "invented" the Internet *G*) for the World Wide Web!
What is it that you see in Steven anyway? He's a cutie. (I have a thing for older men, okay?) And I have enjoyed his work for several years, even if it doesn't seem like much to the average person. And meeting him really put the icing on the cake, since he was the sweetest, kindest, and most loveable man you could ever imagine! (And we have a lot of really weird things in common...you wouldn't believe it! But I'm not going to get into that, you weren't there! ;@ ))
Uhm...isn't he a little too old for you? Of course not. Age is not an issue anyway, when it comes to loving and admiring the person for who they are. And besides, I don't even know his exact age, so I can't go by that even if I wanted to. And as I said before, I like older men...I don't look at them like "father figures", so don't even try to tell me that's my problem! My father does a fine job at being that!
Why do you call sometimes him Stevie? Some of the people I've talked to have referred to him as Stevie. (Sometimes it's also Steve.) But he calls himself Stevie. (At least he did when me met.) When he introduced himself to my friend (who was with me when we met), he said, "Hi, I'm Stevie Marcus." It was quite cute. :@ ) (He obviously did not have to formally introduce himself to me...) So though I usually say Steven when I talk about him, I think he actually prefers Stevie.
How is it you met him in New York? Magic, I think. :@ ) Well, I wrote to him and asked if he'd like to. (Okay, so there's more to it than that.) I had written him quite some time ago, and got a nice note back (plus a copy of his resume and a picture he signed, standard fan stuff, you could say). But when I found out he was doing 'Cuckoo's Nest' on Broadway last Spring (I can't even remember how I came about finding that out, I think it was on Playbill's Website), I got very excited, as I was going to be going back East anyway for a Wedding anyway. I wrote him a nice little note in care of the Royale Theatre, and said I was going to be back there and wanted to visit New York City very badly (I'd never been there before) and so long as the show was going to be running still, I wanted to meet up with him if he was interested. And he actually wrote me back saying that would be great, though he was amazed I'd want to go just to see him. :@ ) So, somehow I talked an online friend of mine to come along (Hi Jason!), so I wouldn't be going alone (a couple of good friends of mine were going to come with originally, but then couldn't, so I had to very quickly change my plans). Luckily the show's run was held over due to popularity, plus it won a Tony Award, otherwise the show was meant to close in like June. But then it was extended into the end of July (and was supposed to go even longer, but the actors couldn't all keep doing it into September), and this worked out so perfectly for me, since the Wedding was in mid-July! And so we met July 8th, 2001. :@ ) And another online friend of mine was starring in a production of Parade at a theatre on Long Island while I was there, so I got to meet her in person for the first time on Opening Night for her show. It was great fun all around! And considering what has happened in NYC since then, I'm so glad I went and didn't let anything hold me back. :@ )
What was Steven like when you met him? Sweet, amazing...he totally surpassed my expectations as to what I thought he'd be like. We are actually very much alike, really. And we talked about pretty much everything, everyday stuff. (The All-Star game had been going on in my home city of Seattle that same week, so we even talked about the Mariners and such.) And when I first saw him (I spotted him immediately as he stepped out of the theatre) I burst into tears of happiness, and he just gave me the biggest hug, and then he took a handkerchief out of his backpack (which was, oddly enough, almost exactly like the one I was carrying) and gave it to me so I could wipe my tears. In fact, I still have it...he let me keep it! It was the sweetest, most perfect moment you could imagine.
Why did you start a Website for him? Because I wanted to share my admiration with the World. Well, and I felt Steven deserved some sort of global attention; seeing as there are no other pages out there dedicated to him, plus I knew I was up for the task! He is worthy of the exposure, and it'll help people figure out who "that one guy who keeps appearing" is in all those Law and Order episodes. :@ )
Does he really know you have a Website for him? Has he seen it? He knows I have a site dedicated to him, yes. He has never said whether he's seen it or not, so I don't think he has. I asked him if he has a computer, and he doesn't yet (at least not at the time we met), though he did say he'd probably get one down the road someday. (He's a starving artist, not to mention quite busy, so there's probably not a lot of $$$ or need for one now anyway.) Maybe he has one now? I don't know.
Aren't you embarrassed by the things you've said about him on your site? (What if he saw them?) Well, in a way, yeah. When I first started this page out, I hadn't met him yet, and I was a bit younger, and mostly I just blabbed on and on like a silly teenager with her first crush (which essentially was how things started out when I 'discovered' him). Since meeting him I looked back on all that and just really felt stupid about a lot of it, so a lot of that is offline now until I re-evaluate what I want to say. I don't think I'd care much if he did see those things though, he knows how I feel and is very flattered by it all. In fact, he was quite surprised by actually meeting me and seemed to be very pleased someone would take the time out for him. He kept saying he couldn't believe I was really there in New York (and of course I felt the same, I wish I had had it all on tape), so I think we somehow hit it off, for good or bad. :@ ) But still, don't we all go through those phases with love/infatuation, no matter our ages? It's a healthy response, I think! And who hasn't lusted for say, Patrick Swayze, David Duchovny or Tom Cruise? (Just examples, mind you.)
I'd like to send him a letter. How do I do that? If you wish, you could E-mail your messages to me and I'll print them out and mail them to him. Or if you'd prefer, contact me privately and I can send on his Agent's address. If I ever come up with any other methods of communication, I'll post that here!
I am interested in featuring Steven in a show/play/film. How can I get a hold of him? Well, I wish I could help you personally, but the only way you'll be able to find that out is by contacting his Agent. As mentioned above, you can find contact info on the 'Net (look at his resume for their name), or E-mail me and I'll point you in the right direction. You have made a wise choice by considering him for your work though! :@ )
